From the annals of idiotic kitchen behavior: a chef at the Roger Smith Hotel resigned after he was accused by a black co-worker of putting a pillowcase over his head and pretending to be a Ku Klux Klan member.
Per The New York Daily News, the alleged incident occurred when Jeff Farley went looking for some kitchen rags and instead found a pillowcase, which he proceeded to pull over his head in front of Julius Jones, who happened to be the only black person in the kitchen at the time. Jones alleges that Farley asked, "'How does that make you feel? Do you feel insulted?" According to the discrimination complaint filed by Jones' lawyer, another kitchen worker heard Farley say, "Remember these days."
Farley, for his part, maintains that he was pretending to be a ghost -- because - of course! - the incident took place just before Halloween.
Jones' lawyer isn't buying it, saying "there aren't any ghosts in the kitchen." There do, however, seem to be plenty of skeletons in the closet.
